Eat & Drink : 7 microbreweries you need to visit in Quebec this summer
Summer will be festive in Quebec City this year! With the return of key events, there will be many opportunities to visit the region this summer season! By staying at Hotel Nomad, you’ll also be close to many exceptional microbreweries where you can quench your thirst on a sunny terrace while discovering delicious craft beers. Here are 7 addresses to remember and visit during your next trip to Quebec!
Established in Limoilou since 2012, La Souche Microbrewery also has a second location in the heart of Stoneham’s forest. A warm decor awaits you at both addresses, as well as a gourmet menu to accompany their original beers inspired by their environment. You’ll find seasonal concoctions, classic flavors and a series of ephemeral beers that will surprise you at each visit. Sour, barrel or IPA beers, you won’t run out of choices when you visit this experimental brewery.
Founded in 1997, La Barberie is also the very first microbrewery cooperative in the province. Renowned for its wide variety of beers and its lush terrace, it’s a great spot to hang out and have a bite to eat during warm summer days. Even your dog is welcome! If you prefer to celebrate happy hour in your room or on Hotel Nomad’s terrace, let yourself be tempted by their box of mixed beers to go.
With two locations in Quebec, including one on Parvis Street and another in the Saint-Malo district, IPA lovers cannot miss a visit to Noctem Artisans Brasseurs Microbrewery. You’ll probably recognize their colorful cans of sour beers and their feline inspirations, including the famous Catnip, which are also found in many shops across the province.
Brewed on site, from pilsners to stouts, there’s no shortage of delicious beers at Emporium Microbrewery in Charlesbourg. You’ll also have the opportunity to enjoy their famous Italian-style oven-baked pizzas, the perfect pairing to accompany their hoppy creations. Several weekly signature events also await you, including Tartar Thursdays and Quiz Sundays! This isn’t to be missed!
If you want to explore the magnificent region of Charlevoix during your stay around Quebec, a stop at Menaud is a must. Both a microbrewery and a distillery, you’ll find beers produced in small batches with various artisanal flavors as well as spirits made from local ingredients. We recommend you to try their camerise beer or their tasting platter to taste summer at every sip.
Depending on your itinerary and your tastes, you’ll find many more microbreweries near Hotel Nomad. Among our other favorites is the Griendel, an emblematic microbrewery in the Saint-Sauveur district. Its wide range of beers as well as its gastronomic menu will charm you, from their vegetarian risotto to their salmon gravlax. However, Microbrasserie de l’Île d’Orléans is the perfect place to enjoy a good beer with a breathtaking view of the St Lawrence River.
We wish you amazing beer tastings and a festive summer in Quebec!
Cheers!
